Monique Dunn, LCSW-S
I am a British clinician, born and raised in the U.K. In 2011 I began my journey to train as a therapist and after completion of both clinical and academic studies, I graduated with my degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham, England.
When people ask me what the Humanistic approach is, I usually explain that it’s a framework grounded in the belief that every individual has their own unique lens and way of perceiving, experiencing and understanding the world.
We believe this influences how you behave and interact in your environment, therefore, I will lean into curiosity about my client’s world to try to understand your subjective experience in a deep and meaningful way.

A little more about me.
With my love for travel and desire to expand my cultural lens, I then decided to move to New York City in 2015, where I studied for my Masters of Social Work from New York University. I completed my Masters degree in 2017 and have since worked as a licensed clinician in an array of clinical settings serving a diverse population of clients and communities. I am very much a believer in lifelong learning, and was privileged with the opportunity to attend the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York City. There I was able to deepen my knowledge and enhance my clinical skills to better serve my clients. In 2021, I completed the certificate program in Psychodynamic Approaches in Clinical Practice.
I have been trained in a range of therapeutic disciplines and work collaboratively with my clients to build a treatment plan that is tailored to their individual needs. My work is grounded in being Humanistic and Person-Centered, which means that you are my priority and building a strong foundation for our therapeutic relationship is paramount to me.
Creating a safe and inclusive space is vital to me to best serve a diverse range of clients who come with their own complex, unique life experiences, which includes being part of marginalized groups or having complicated childhoods or challenges in the past. I often utilize therapy sessions to support clients in gaining deeper insight into how those past experiences might be impacting their current relationships and wellbeing now. Although I have personal experiences within marginalized groups as a woman of color, I utilize an inclusive approach to acknowledge and honor each person’s unique journey.
I want to take a moment to celebrate and honor your bravery in seeking out support and beginning (or starting anew) your therapy journey! The time in each therapy session will be yours, so we will go at your pace and take it one session at a time. My goal is to make space for all parts of you to show up as your authentic self and actualize the life you’ve been envisioning by taking intentional steps towards your desired destination.
