About Destination Therapy

Destination Therapy is a minority woman-owned boutique private-pay group therapy practice located in Houston, Texas. We provide affirming, culturally responsive therapy for adults and couples who are seeking meaningful support, deeper self-understanding, and healthier relationships. Our work is grounded in anti-racist, culturally affirming care that celebrates intersectional identities. We are passionate about destigmatizing and decolonizing the field of Mental Health. Destination Therapy lives by values that guide who we are as a team and how we present to our communities. We hire staff who bring these values to life.

We are currently hiring a full-time Associate Level / Pre Licensed Therapist to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a clinician who values high-quality clinical care, enjoys working with both individuals and couples, and is looking to build a long-term home within a supportive group practice setting.

This is a full-time W-2 employment position. Because this role is designed as a full-time clinical position with Destination Therapy, outside clinical work or private practice work must be discussed and approved in advance.

What We Believe

At Destination Therapy, we are building more than a group practice. We are creating a space where clients feel deeply seen, clinicians feel genuinely supported, and therapy is delivered with warmth, clinical excellence, and cultural humility.

Our clients are often ambitious professionals and couples who are carrying a lot beneath the surface. They may look like they are holding it all together, but internally they are navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship stress, perfectionism, identity questions, or the pressure to keep going without falling apart.

We are looking for clinicians who understand that good therapy is not just about symptom reduction. It is about helping people build healthier relationships, reconnect with themselves, and create lives that feel more honest, grounded, and sustainable.

Why Join Destination Therapy

A boutique practice experience
You will be part of a thoughtfully built practice with beautiful office space, strong systems, and a client experience designed to feel warm, professional, and supportive from the first point of contact.

Support with client growth
Destination Therapy invests in marketing, website presence, advertising, community outreach, and referral-building so clinicians are not expected to build a caseload alone. Our goal is to help the right clients find the right clinician while allowing you to focus more fully on the clinical work.

A team culture rooted in consultation and connection
We know this work matters deeply, and we also know it can feel heavy at times. At Destination Therapy, clinicians are not expected to hold that alone. We create dedicated space each week for consultation, case discussion, connection, and support because we believe therapists deserve the same care, thoughtfulness, and community that we encourage our clients to build.

Flexibility with real connection
This is a hybrid role that allows clinicians to balance in-person client care and team connection with the flexibility of telehealth. For clinicians who value variety, the role offers space to be present in the office, connect with colleagues, and also have days that feel quieter, more independent, and remote.

A team culture that values lifelong learning
We believe good clinical work requires ongoing growth, humility, and curiosity. Destination Therapy invests in clinicians by offering continuing education reimbursement and supporting flexibility when clinicians need time away for approved training, learning opportunities, and professional development.

Support that helps make the work sustainable
We want clinicians to feel supported not only in their clinical work, but also in the practical realities of doing this work well over time. Destination Therapy provides benefits, practice tools, furnished office space, marketing support, and professional development support to help clinicians build a sustainable long-term home here.

About the Role

As an Associate Level / Pre Licensed Therapist at Destination Therapy, you will provide individual and couples therapy to clients both in person and through approved telehealth services. Our clinicians support clients navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, identity exploration, and other mental health needs.

This role is a strong fit for a therapist who is clinically grounded, relationally warm, dependable, and excited to contribute to a collaborative team culture.

Clinicians are not guaranteed a minimum number of clients or sessions. However, for a full-time position, therapists are expected to maintain consistent availability and be available to provide a minimum of 24 hours of client services per week.

To support client accessibility, therapists are expected to offer at least six client sessions per week outside of traditional 9:00 am to 5:00 pm weekday hours. This may include early morning, evening, or weekend availability.

Work hours are flexible and may vary based on client and practice needs, while remaining within the practice’s full-time employment guidelines.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Level / Pre Licensed Therapist, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing individual, couples, and/or group therapy services to clients of Destination Therapy
  • Facilitating initial consultations, intake assessments, treatment planning, diagnosis, and ongoing clinical care
  • Completing intake notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required documentation within practice timeframes
  • Using evidence-based and clinically appropriate interventions within your scope of competence
  • Continually assessing client symptoms, risk, treatment needs, and progress
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and HIPAA-compliant communication with clients
  • Participating in regular clinical staff meetings, team meetings, and case consultations
  • Supporting ethical continuity of care, including appropriate referrals, case management, and client transition planning when needed
  • Practicing within the scope of your license and in alignment with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council rules and professional ethics
  • Contributing to Destination Therapy’s brand presence and community engagement through activities such as blog writing, social media content, workshops, events, or outreach
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and clinical learning opportunities

Clinicians are expected to support strong continuity of care, client engagement, and retention in alignment with Destination Therapy’s clinical standards and retention policies.

The responsibilities listed above are representative of the role and may evolve based on clinical, client care, and practice needs.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must:

  • Be licensed to practice in the State of Texas as an LMSW, LPC-Associate or LMFT-Associate
  • Be in good standing with their professional licensing board
  • Have experience providing therapy to adults
  • Be willing and able to provide both individual and couples therapy
  • Be available for a hybrid schedule that includes in-person services at our Houston office
  • Be committed to timely documentation, ethical clinical care, and strong continuity of care
  • Value affirming, culturally responsive, and inclusive therapy
  • Be comfortable contributing to a collaborative team environment

Who Thrives Here

You may be a strong fit for Destination Therapy if you are a clinician who:

  • Understands the importance of creating a therapy space where LGBTQ+ clients, BIPOC clients, and clients with intersecting identities feel seen, respected, and supported
  • Cares deeply about providing affirming, culturally responsive therapy
  • Values both warmth and clinical excellence
  • Enjoys working with ambitious adults, professionals, and couples
  • Understands the importance of consistency, documentation, and follow-through
  • Wants to contribute to a collaborative team rather than work in isolation
  • Is interested in growing clinically and professionally over time
  • Can balance autonomy with accountability
  • Wants to be part of a practice that is intentional about client care, clinician support, and community presence
  • Is looking for a long-term clinical home rather than a short-term role
